  • "The primary task of a seeker is Realization of the supreme Truth, which implies extinction of possessiveness. The ultimate truth is that nothing belongs to anyone at all. The whole of the creation is the Creator's alone..."
  • "For the true seeker, the effort should be to dissuade the mind from plural and divergent interests and fix it exclusively on the spiritual goal. All thoughts, words and deeds must harmoniously converge to this end."
  • "The aim of meditation is to locate the Self. But to know the Self is not only to realise it in meditation. The Self is the Self in all states, under all conditions of life. To know the Self is to realise it as ever as such."
  • "Whether you seek material peace, intellectual wisdom, personal steadiness or religious salvation, know that the source of any and all lies just within you. Look within and unearth your own hidden treasures. Be humble, but bold and keen in your attempt."
  • "When introspection grows and the mind recedes, absorption and relaxation result. The mind will then get lost in the imagination and splendour of the Self! Till then, the mind has to be treated."
  • "The purpose of meditation is to encounter the mind, to come ‘face to face’ with the mind. Understand it to be an expression, a wave-like expression on the surface of the sea of Consciousness. And then the Consciousness becomes the focus. The mind becomes a purely functional and transitory note."
  • "To transcend the mind will mean, to bring about a progressive reduction in the forces of attraction and repulsion and logically come to an ideal situation where you are not victimized by the thoughts and feelings your mind produces."
  • "To the discriminating mind, the world, however beautiful or attractive, is yet fleeting, evanescent. This one truth is enough to lead the mind to stronger dispassion. Let the dispassion in you grow stronger and deeper."
  • "Spirituality is a strong motivational force. It can inspire an individual, a society, as also a whole nation. When provided by noble teachers and leaders, spiritual inspiration can deliver people from fear and corruption, and strengthen their minds for winning any social or national cause."
  • "I am not interested in the theory of Vedanta or the theory of God-realization. I only want to know how to live in this world with composure, clarity, freedom and effectiveness as an individual and as a universal man, accommodating different types of interactions and enabling effective performance under all circumstances. If spirituality does not have a relevance to these, I think I have no need for it."
  • "Spirituality first addresses the emotional aspect of the mind’s crisis. But soon it goes deeper and enfolds the intelligence, whose wont is ever to seek enlightenment. Once the intelligence is illumined, the mind’s turmoil subsides. This much-needed alliance between the mind and the intelligence does not usually take place. Intelligence, if at all, comes to play later and until then the mind rules the scene."
  • "Yoga is actually a sublimation cultivated and achieved in the sphere of the mind. During the interactions, the mind always undergoes ups and downs, elevation and depressions. If the mind can be trained to remain even and harmonious both in pleasant and unpleasant situations, it results in an inner sublimity and integration that leads to yoga."
